A bit Sketchy

"I love Beauty...It's not My fault"
                                                     -Valentino

That's a motto for any a Designer.

I am addicted to beautiful things,
Materials, Colours, Textures, Trinkets, Dogs, Men!
Beauty in everything. The greatest skill you can have as a designer is the ability to extract the beauty out of everything, even the ugly.

Work has begun on the Official 'Last Outfit' of the collection.
Then that's it! I'm not adding anymore..... or Emma will kill me.

Oh yeh.... we set fire to things now too!

Look at those hands... Beauty.
. Her Technique is so... Emma.
I've never seen anyone else
sew or handle a piece of textile like she does.
Most of her methods through self development and practice,
like most of what we do are our own.
That makes the way she works all the more Authentique.

She likes to be comfy....

Emma likes to leave me notes.
I can't spend any of them...

Textures

I believe a fundamental part of Fashion design, in fact all design,
Is knowing your materials.

Textile development in the industry
is the most important it's ever been.
New innovate, unusual and not always practical
textile technology development is at the top of any designer's wish list.

I think for myself like most designers take
a really tactile approach to design.
We're won over by exciting new textures and finishes.
We're forever trying to push the boundaries
of how we can get them to perform.
Accidents do happen,
but sometimes,
they're welcomed with open arms and a box of pins.

Jigsaw Couture

Since the beginning of this project, the is a significant difference in the sophistication of our technique, we hope it continues to be apparent in future collections.

Le Croquis

The new girl...

Having two dummies is great because it means we get one each!
Which is great when we both have to work on the stand.

Another new girl made an appearance this week, we were privileged to have a model  sent from the gods work with us, a Size 8- Eight foot Gem!

She is everything we could have hoped for.
There is quite a list of alterations....
But even though this new work load is primarily a set back,
she has helped us prepare for what work we would have had to do after the collection is complete.
So it's all good.
We look forward to working with her.

We continue on with the regular construction as well as the new Faff!

Nightmare pattern!

So yeah....
Peace out!

Fine Tune

Scruitiny

As we get closer to finishing i'm being extra critical of everything that were doing, espacially the earlier pieces.
Everything under the magnifing glass,

Technique

Finishing

Design

If were going to get this out into the world we have do a
'Yoncè, and be 'FLAWLESS'

We've been going back through the ealier outfits, eliminating anyfuss, and amending any flaws.

Also keeping on top of the work thats going on now,
this week i think i invented the most complicated inseam pockt ever!

Emma is still stuffing away; not be long now.

The 'finished' rail is filling up nicely.
Were having a model come over in the next week or so for some fittings,
and maybe for a style test the week after that. Hair and make-up and such.

So.... yeh. better have a tidy up.

The fiendship ball still hangs high above us.
We havnt fallen out yet, oh...
but the £30 Aldi Steam Genorator has broken.
Do not buy a steam genorator from Aldi.
(Damn right i'm sending it back)

Plodding on

Lots of jobs done since the last time I posted.

Dinosaurs were made...

and vents were.... complicated

and things have been stuffed and stitched.

Em' hasn't been well this week.
But she's back on track now.

We've begun cutting one of the most impacting pieces of the collection this week.
72 pieces! That's not including the 30+ pieces of Appliqué and embroidery.
Hate cutting out.

It's very exciting now were coming to the end of it all,
well we hope its just the beginning.
Ideas for styling and photography are surfacing and begun
looking into raising money for promotion.

Couture 2014

The Verdict is in.

I found this seasons efforts from the Paris Couture Catwalks to be.....

a little disappointing.

What can say, I miss LaCroix and Galliano

Jean Paul Gaultier, was the only one by far,
who shone bright in a sea of stars that only occasionally twinkled.

Other stand out collections were,
Valentino, with their homage to the beauty of Woodland Critters,

and Bouchra Jarrar with her Sequined Feathered Frenzy.

I wasn't to keen the presentation from my Beloved Viktor and Rolf either... I Just didn't get it.
But I was Crazy for that Creepy Stlying. Loved it.
