The Verdict, Couture Fashion week Fall 2014

A beautiful season, lots of surprises, a couple of disappointments.

I love Viktor and Rolf....
Did i tell you I shook their hands in Paris last season...
But that ain't nothing but a thing,

This is Viktor and Rolf's interpretation of....
The dressing gown. The animal Devourè is wonderful.

Marco Zanini defiantly impressed this season at Schiaparelli.
Quirky, Couture Kitsch, bright colours and mixed textiles, i really appreciated his efforts to sustain Schiaparelli's surrealist roots.

Giambattista Valli was a whole show of wonderful.
Lovely beautiful crisp fabrics, pretty classic silhouettes, and playful stripes followed one after another, thoughts of weekends at the Hampton's and seaside sun escapes.

For me Jean Paul Gaultier reigned supreme.
This quilted Quality Street penny toffee yellow suit took my breath away.
A collection that far surpassed the rest of the shows this week.
You can't teach an old dog new tricks?
You don't need to, he knows them all!

For me the biggest disappointment, was Dior.... As if I've just said that!!!

Monsur Raf Simons is a conundrum for me...
Sometimes i really have to look hard to see Dior?
Maybe its just because i LOVE Dior,
i have real infinity with the New Look,
and i get it, Raf Simon's, well....
is defiantly a New Look for Dior.... but

Boiler suits and rubber gloves.... come on Raf, get it together.

Getting it Together

As the Second stage of the Le Tour De France passes through
our home town of Sheffield,
We too have reached the second stage of Fittings...
and were gonna need plenty more,
as we are no where near as close to the finish line as we thought we were.

Things went smooth, more plusses than minors, but the minors were Major minors.

These kinds of alterations are always a bit of a buzz kill, because the issues we're encountering could have probably been solved earlier had we known about our little Gemstone Jo.

Look at those legs

...Hands off Raf Simmons

All stresses and messes aside..... things are looking Hot.

Thank you to our Gorgeous model Jo

Dirty Cash i need you Whoa!

Car Boot!

We held a car boot sale on Sunday morning.
To raise money for a good cause....
US!
We need some big cash for little things like
Photos, Printing, and an Official Website!
We did really well despite the weather, I've already spent it.

A big thank you to Ruby for looking Cute, and to My boyfriend Steven,
who owns the Car.
Can't do a Car boot with out a CAR!

Things are coming together nicely,
we're still making small changes, which are inevitable.
But the pressure is on, so, not too many changes!

Couture is just as beautiful on the inside as the outside,
and takes just as much consideration and dedication.

There's a chance we maybe published in the Local Press this August?
...Watch this space.

Beyond Busy

Meanwhile...

Work continues in our little studio making big Treasures.

We have so much to do in the next couple of weeks, fittings, photos, web sights, and weight loss....?

Well... Don't push it.

I love the details in what we do, which is unfortunate for me and my limited stock of Patience.

Emma has an eye for finish, and i like to make things complicated.

But there's a Rendezvous where Beauty Triumphs over technical deliberation.
and it looks Très Jollie.

As always, Eye on the Prize.

WINNER!

I have won a competition.

Hand & Lock Master Embroiders, announced a competition to win the chance of having an outsider be involved with their First Ready to Wear collection.

The outsider is Moi!

I was over the moon! I was invited to spent the day at the London Studio just off Oxford Circus a couple of weeks ago and had a wonderful time, looking through samples and talking about the logistics of the outfit i had designed.

The team are a truly talented group of Artisans, crafts people and designers,
What a designer like me could do with skills like that.... is scary.

I was in Love.

I hope that this will be the first steps
in a wonderful journey with Hand & Lock.

A bit Sketchy

"I love Beauty...It's not My fault"
                                                     -Valentino

That's a motto for any a Designer.

I am addicted to beautiful things,
Materials, Colours, Textures, Trinkets, Dogs, Men!
Beauty in everything. The greatest skill you can have as a designer is the ability to extract the beauty out of everything, even the ugly.

Work has begun on the Official 'Last Outfit' of the collection.
Then that's it! I'm not adding anymore..... or Emma will kill me.

Oh yeh.... we set fire to things now too!

Look at those hands... Beauty.
. Her Technique is so... Emma.
I've never seen anyone else
sew or handle a piece of textile like she does.
Most of her methods through self development and practice,
like most of what we do are our own.
That makes the way she works all the more Authentique.

She likes to be comfy....

Emma likes to leave me notes.
I can't spend any of them...
